Kuressaare Airport is located on the Saaremaa island, 3 km from the Estonian town of Kuressaare. Although this airport was constructed in the 1930s, the Kuressaare Airport began its operations from 6th of March, 1945. Kuressaare Airport has 2 runways- one is 799 meters in length and 30 meters in width and the other runway is 1500 meters in width and 30 meters in width. The smaller runways does not have landing light. However both the runways are paved.

- Avies: Since 2005 Avies airways has flights from Kuressaare to Tallinn. This is also an important regional airway.
- Skyway Express: Operating from the Stockholm-Arlanda Airport, Skyway Express has seasonal flights between Kuressaare and Sweden.

Kuressaare Airport has both passenger and cargo flights. It has the capability of carrying 70 tonnes of cargo at a time. The airport authorities are planning to improve the infrastructures and facilities at the Kuressaare Airport. The projects are being funded by the European Regional Development Fund. Efforts are being made to improve the passenger terminal, introduce meteorological equipments and runway lighting facilities. The project is due to be over by the end of 2007. |
