Johvi is a town located in North Eastern Estonia. The town is the capital of Ida Viru County. There are some interesting anecdotes regarding the origination of the name, ' Johvi'. It was in the year 1241, Johvi was referred to as village. Johvi was referred to as village in the Danish book. There were also other historical names of Johvi like Gewi and Jewi during the period of 13th century. Around that time, a church was built and Johvi became the hub of the local church. It was way back in the year 1938, Johvi was rejuvenated as a town with other Estonian Chapels. Again in the year 2005, the Johvi town got merged with all the churches of Johvi. There are other class of Estonians, called Ethnic Estonians arrived in Estonia during the last of the Soviet annexation. As we know already, Johvi was annexed by the Soviets from 1944-1991.
