Haapsalu is a seaside resort located on the West coast of Estonia. The city became prominent during the period of 19th century whne Haapsalu became famous for preparing shawl. The town was known at that time as ' The town will soon have another feather in the cap. The town will come up with the Land of llon Wikland, which means the place of relaxation for the children. The town is popularly known throughout the ages for its warm sea water and calm and cool atmosphere. The streets are very narrow. The houses are mostly made of wood which faces the seaside. Haapsalu is aso well known as ' Nordic Venice'. This means ' surplus availability of water'. During the time of Cold War, Tokhaapsalu Air Base, which is located on the South West of the town, was known as the center of interruption of the Air Craft Regiment.
As regards the origination of the town of Haapsalu, it was way back in the year 1279, when the entire town was chartered and became the center of Bishopric of Osel Wiek, which continued during the coming 300 years.
